Right before the Holidays (and the coldest canadian Winter ever?!) Fred and I decided to take some vitamin D and book a last minute trip to our favorite boho gem, Tulum. It was our second time visiting the area and we decided to officially make this trip a yearly tradition. If you never been to Tulum, trust me, you need to check-out this destination in 2018 – the vibe, the people, the food, the beach, impossible not to fall in love! What made our stay even more magical was our eco friendly hotel, Mamasan. Imagine sleeping in a “treehouse”? A dream come true!
Mamasan has, in my opinion, the best location in Tulum. It’s right in the middle of the “strip” km7. Although the treehouses are on the jungle side, a 2 mins walk will take you to the beach. To be clear, Mamasan is the name of the restaurant of the propriety and I simply used the same name for the hotel (not confirmed yet). As I said, the treehouses are brand new and feature a 360 panoramic view of the jungle – seriously breathtaking! The decor is rustic bohemian with beautiful wood accents. The environment is peaceful and think about Tulum like a way to disconnect and resource with nature.
My favorite part of the day was walking up with the sun rays in our room and…getting ready for breakfast! Mamasan has an amazing coffee shop, a lounge area downstairs near the kitchen and a stunning jungle rooftop terrace – the choice is yours! While I loved having my berry bowl and latte combo downstairs, the rooftop area was a must at sunset. The tacos were addictive, while various meals as the octopus and the tuna were cooked to perfection. Spice up your meal with a cocktail and make sure you try at least one Mezcal drink before you leave :). Cheers!
