Amsterdam Foodie Guide – part II

November 12, 2017

For me discovering a new city means exploring the food culture. I am a huge foodie and I love saving new places on my Google Map (tell me you guys are doing this too!?). Here are the latest restaurants I’ve tried in Amsterdam – ready, set, droool.

After spending the day shopping in Amsterdam book a table at Jackson Dubois. Located only steps away from Amsterdam’s best fashion stores, this restaurant is the place to be if you’re looking for a place to unwind with your girlfriends (yes, I know, shopping is my cardio as well :P). Order a Bloody Mary and share a few starters, all inspired by street food around the World. My personal favorites include the Chicken Samosa, the Beetroot Croquettes and the Pizza Bianca (fresh truffle – omg). I always get confused about what I really want to eat and I love the fact that I can pick different dishes to satisfy all my cravings (a little italian, a little indian, a little american). As for the main courses, the vegan Lasagna is terribly delicious (I even tried to make a similar version at home) and the Indonesian Rice Table brought back so many Bali memories. You can’t leave without trying the Jackson’s Favorite American Threesome which is a mix of donut, marshmallow and ice cream – enough said!

Wyers has to be my new favorite date night restaurant. The decor is minimal with an industrial touch and I absolutely loved the moody atmosphere in the evening with candles on the tables and a few neons here and there. We had the pleasure to meet the chef, Sam Demarco, and couldn’t wait to try his upscale american comfort food. Come in starving because there’s too much tasty options on the menu and picking only a few will be hard! Here are a few of my personal highlights: the Lollipop Chicken Wings (one of the chef’s signature snacks), the Lobster Duo (still dreaming about that lobster bisque), the Mac&Cheese side (told Fred I would only try a bite – ended up eating the whole dish), the roasted cauliflower (my veggie crush of the moment) and the Wood Grilled Hanger Steak Frites (such a good classic). Please leave some room for dessert because not trying those beignets would be a crime!

Other favorites in the city include:

Nacarat: seriously the BEST Middle East food I’ve ever had!

Benji’s: great place for breakfast surrounded by lots of greens.

Bocca Coffee: take your coffee to go and enjoy your flat white by the canals.
